About Us

Chenango & Madison Bounty is headquartered in Sherburne, NY and aspires to provide easy access of local, fresh food to all of Chenango and Madison County citizens.

 Chenango & Madison County agriculture is dominated by small/medium sized farms, in large part due to the Counties’ physiographic characteristics.  Increasingly, for small and medium farms to be profitable they must add value to their product(s) (generally by marketing and/or processing).  Though there are some outlets through which small/medium farms can market their value-added product(s), existing distribution systems generally cater to larger farms, which can supply steady streams of goods at lower prices.  Additionally small/medium farms tend to have lower profit margins and less hired labor, thus taking time away from the farm and paying the rising energy costs can be daunting.  Distribution is thus one of the biggest hurdles that small and mid-scale agricultural producers face.

 In recognition of these challenges, as well as the need to provide healthier food options to the Greater Chenango & Madison County Communities, Chenango & Madison Bounty were created.  The mission of Chenango & Madison Bounty is to support local farmers and producers by creating new markets for locally produced foods, thereby strengthening the local economy and providing healthy food to all citizens of the Greater Chenango & Madison County communities in an environmentally responsible way.
