Where do you get your products from?

The majority of our products come from farms and producers in Chenango and Madison Counties. We try our best to balance reasonably priced local goods and the food demands of homes with products available in our area. To help provide a complete shopping experience we do have regional and New York State products. The product's origin is noted in the product description.

Are all your products available all the time?

Most of our products are available year round, but many of our fruits and vegetables are not. We will do our best to offer you locally grown storage crops throughout the winter (potatoes, onions, apples, etc.)

The produce I ordered became unavailable, what happened?

All of our farms are small farms, many with diversified crops, which allows them to grow high quality, flavorful goods; they are not large scale growers like the suppliers from California who pick unripe tomatoes and ship them across the county. Because of the nature of small, diversified farms, with varied markets, there can be a few reasons why a product we thought would be available for delivery isn't.

We compile our catalog on Thursday, a week before delivery - and a lot can happen in a week, especially when it comes to produce. Crop failures, delays in fruit maturity, premature end of the season, or limited availability of a product can cause a catalog item to be unavailable.

Projects like Chenango and Madison Bounty can create by creating a solid local customer base, which can allow for our local farms to bolster their production, making our entire local economy more secure. Please bare with the sometimes spontaneous habits of mother nature, and know that we will do our best to either find a substitute or to let you know what has happened to the product you ordered.

What is a crop failure?

Crop failures generally happen when nature doesn't cooperate with the farmer. Hail or wind storms, late or early frosts, too little or too much rain, and disease and insect problems are just a few of the things that can cause crop failure. Our farms sometimes have crop failures, and since crop failures can happen in a matter of days, that vegetable may have been available for order. IF that happens, we will notify the customer as soon as we can about it's unavailability.
